Remington is America's oldest gun maker and is claimed to be America's largest U.S. producer of shotguns and rifles. Remington has been in business for nearly 200 years. Remington has developed or adopted more cartridges than any other gun maker or ammunition manufacturer in the world. They are headquartered in Madison, NC with site locations in NY, AL, SD, AR and KY.

Remington filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, in March 2018, having accumulated over $950 million in debt.

Remington is owned by the Freedom Group which is a privately owned holding company which specializes in firearms. Owned by Cerberus Capital Management (CCM) the Group contains some of the world’s largest brands of firearms, including Remington Arms (the Group's de-facto leading member), Marlin Firearms and Bushmaster.

Remington Arms Company, LLC is an American manufacturer of firearms and ammunition. It was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York, as E. Remington and Sons.
